Single Malt Scotches

You bet we have them!  Descriptions below are from Michale Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch, 1990, Running Press:

• Balvenie
  Color: Amber; Nose: Faintly musky orange-honey perfume; Body: Medium; Palate: Sweet in taste, but slightly dry in texture. Lots of depth; Finish: Lingering, with just a touch of syrupiness.
• Glenlivet 12
  Color: Pale gold;  Nose: Remarkably flowery; clean and soft; Body: Light to medium, firm, smooth; Palate: Flowery, peachy, notes of vanilla, delicate balance between sweetness and malty dryness; Finish: Restrained, long, gently warming<
• Glenfiddich
  Color: Very pale, "white wine;" Nose: Light, fresh but sweet, appetizing, fruity, pear-like; Body: Light, lean, firm, smooth; Plate: Drish, pear-like.  More fruitiness as flarour develops. A dash of water releases a hint of smokiness and some seet, malty notes; Finish: Restrained, aromatic.
• Knockando
  Color: Pale gold; Nose: Dry, fragrant, hint of smoke; Body: Light but notably smooth; Palate: Soft, fresh, but with a depth of flowery, nutty, faintly minty, sweetness; Finish: Soft, sweet, but very clean; Flowery, fragrant, light and smoky notes.
• Laphroaig
  Color: Full, refractive gold; Nose: Medicinal, phenolic, seaweedy, with a hint of sherry; Body: Medium, oily; Palate: Seaweedy, salty, oily; Finish: Round and very dry.
• Sheep Dip
  Unrated.  Despite the name, this is very good stuff.
• Macallan 12
  Color: Amber; Nose: Sherry, honey, flowery notes; Body: Full, smooth; Palate: The first hints of flowering currant. Altogether more expressive; Finish: Slightly more rounded (than MacCallan 10).
• Macallan 18
  Color: Full amber; Nose: Much more assertive sherry character. Body: Full,round; Palate: More complexity and fullness of flavor, with flowering currant and Calvados-like notes; Finish: Slow at first, then oaky, sappy, and powerful.
• Macallan 25
  (see below)

The Macallan 25

"The Rolls-Royce of Single Malts."  This stuff is so expensive, the bar manager wouldn't unpack it from its leather-strapped wooden presentation box.   He left it in the straw-lined crate for the owner to unwrap.

They've been making The Macallan since the 1700's, but you coluldn't even get it off the island of Speyside until the 1980's.  

If you 're a scotch connoisseur, when you're ready, come down to Marilyn's and try The Macallan 25.  It's been waiting patiently in a barrel for you for over 25 years!  Sometimes, only the best will do.

Color: Full amber-red; Nose: Definite smokiness overlaying the characteristics; Body: Full, firm, round; Palate: The smokiness greatly enhances the complexity (of the 18); Finsh: Dry, complex, very long.

Courvoisier XO Imperial

If you're a cognac connoisseur, you know that most bars only serve VS grade cognac, and the better bars offer VSOP (good stuff).  The next level up is XO (very good stuf), but it's rare that you'll find it, even in a fancy bar.  After that ...
... well, after that comes something that's hard to describe.  The French say, "pour les anges" (for the angels), but now you can have it, too.  Courvoisier XO Imperial, because sometimes, only the best will do. You'll only find it at Marilyn's.
